Tintoremus
Tintoremus is an innovative and sustainable project born in Spain, focused on the production of 100% natural dyes.
At Tintoremus, we cultivate and extract natural indigo and apply this and other natural dyes in the textile process of our collections, aiming to minimize the social and environmental impact of the fashion industry.

Mission
To generate value in the field and connecting farmers with brands and companies, promoting ecological and socially responsible practices.
Vision
To lead the development of respectful and socially responsible solutions, promoting sustainable practices in different sectors.
Process
Crop & Extraction Method

1. Crop
It all starts with the cultivation of the seed of the variety known as Persicaria tinctoria. At Tintoremus, we generate our own seed, manage all the plantations and carry out the different cuts. Once the plant is cut, the leaves are transported to the extraction center so that the pigment extraction process begins.

2. Fermentation
We place the cut Indigo leaves in pools of water for approximately 24 hours and maintain them at a specific temperature to begin the fermentation process.

3. Oxygenation
We remove the leaves from the fermentation pools, they become compost and we transfer the excess water to our oxygenation pools. It is at this moment when we add natural lime and begin the process of oxygenation of the mixture.

4. Filtration
The mixture (already oxygenated) passes from the oxygenation pools to a filter press. The objective of filtering is to retain the pigment and separate it from the excess water, which contains indirubin with anti-inflammatory properties. After the entire process and after a drying period, we obtain the final pigment, first in paste form and later solidified.
- OUR INDIGO -

Spanish crop
Our crop in Santa María de las Lomas (Spain) has more than 350,000 plants, making us the largest indigo farm in Europe.

Added value
Currently, Tintoremus, between the crop and the pigment extraction center, employs 10% of this town.

100% Natural
Thanks to our R&D work, our indigo has become a real alternative to synthetic dyes.
